CASTLE CONSTRUCTION - 2

A castle we constructed

space Now that you have an idea about material, figure what you want in the way of a castle. Also where it will be set up, the storage, etc. For me, a castle should look strong and imposing. Well... imposing for 1/6 figures. It should be a bastion, a refuge, and a base for adventure. For me, this means make it tall - Castle Blackguard is 33 inches tall by 48 inches across the front. An L-shaped right wall is 14 inches long to add stability, a place to hang a turret, and to give a 3-D depth.
NOTE: the L-shape allows for easy storage, and it can be shoe-horned into most closets taking minimal space.

The sheets of styrofoam are butt-glued with hot gun glue. The seams are backed with patches of the same styrofoam material. The corners are braced with doubled triangular gussets. These gussets also serve as weight shelves to help hold the structure stable. The castle front and right wall, plus turret, weigh less than 1 pound.
